Gathered research
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_advertising. Wikipedia source= Was useful for a brief introduction to shock advertising and introduces Benetton and Calvin Klein.
http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/resources/educational/handouts/ethics/calvin_klein_case_study.cfm Calvin Klein source = The case study highlighted the controversies stirred up by the media due to the use of under 15 year old models modelling underwear and the mimic of "picture set" pornography.

Primary research= Im going to analyise adverts from United Colours (Benetton) as this is the only primary research that i have gathered
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article1040955.ece
=From this source i have gathered information about the techniques Benetton uses to captivate the target audience. Its proved reliable as it argues about the shock tactics Benettob uses and compares the Shock campaign of Benettons to Barnardos
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-483762/Fashion-companys-shock-tactics-fight-size-zero.html = I used this as an addition article for research to identify how shock is used. This particular article is about anorexia and I gained some knowledge about the issue of health being a topic that uses shock for campaign especially as it depicts the effect of anorexia!
http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2007/03/dolce_gabbana_p.html = This particular source is about an advert used by D&G fashion house about their latest trends however the connotations of the advert suggest the issue of rape therefore even though shock can be created it is not used deliberately like other campaigns like PETA and BENETTON!
http://www.jenmintzer.com/Benetton.pdf = this is a relevant case study of Benetton and its marketing techniques, it comments on how benetton advertises their products. - very useful for my understanding of this company and its marketing/ advertising stragies

= Two images of the campaign for equality between black and white caused the strong reaction of the black community in the US; that of a black woman breastfeeding a white baby - which represents the most awarded image in Benetton's advertising history as it was most controversial!
=From this source i also got a detail background history on Benetton advertising and its use of shock! along with examples which im using as primary source for textual analysishttp://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article1040955.ece

Progress so far...(18/11/08)
I have researched on campaigns of Benetton (united colours) and Calvin Klein( underage models and sexual connotations of their adverts) from Wikipedia, along with PETA (fur). I've got some articles/case study notes on Benetton and Calvin Klein.

I have also gathered shocking adverts like D&G advert, Barnados and PETA fur campaign images. My next step is to do a textual analysis on adverts i have gathered for primary research.
